Good church day

My congregation has been so wonderful these past couple of weeks, so glad to see me, so involved in meetings and visioning, that they have forced me to concede that my ministry here is important too, even if it's not quite as desperately life-changing as it is in Ecuador ( Read more... )

Many times, when I was particularly upset about something, the Sunday sermon would seem to be designed especially for me, telling me just what I needed to hear. Maybe it works for minsters, too?

Some of your lowness sounded like the "post partum" low that often hits me after a peak experience. Ecuador certainly sounds like it was that.

"Ordination interview"? Aren't you already ordained?

In fact, I think it works even moreso for ministers; the psychological explanation is that it's all kicking around inside my head and comes out on a conscious level (sometimes for the first time) in the process of crafting the sermon, the theological explanation is that the sermon isn't mine but god's and she's gonna speak what needs to be spoken, no matter how her messenger is feeling that day. "If all goes well, I will be ordained in 2009, which is like getting tenure-- I'm in the system until I retire (or really really mess up)."

You look so thin in these pictures. You're beautiful! Husband started his PhD program today, life is about to change in our house! Thinking of you and praying for you.

Thanks sweetie! I worked really hard to lose the baby weight, but didn't get rid of the last 3 lbs of it until Ecuador. The diet of nothing but rice combined with a little bit of travelers' sickness, and my pants were falling off by the end of the trip.

Well thoughts and prayers for you as well, especially B as he starts his program, and your cutie in her daycare! What will you do with all that time on your hands? LittleOne starts 'school' on Wednesday, and she is already very excited.
