Oh my what a great chapter! Just loved it and of course, I do wonder at it all just as Meg does. I am of course realizing that Rumil thought Meg spoke of Valinor as it is in the west when she spoke of America. Could it be that though they stayed in Imladris as to avoid the outside world, they may have inadvertantly lost the ability to travel the straight road?

Maybe Meg could help them get there, and maybe she could go with them? Right now, I wish I were Meg!

I have no idea whether the Straight Road remains open to them. It could be that so much time has passed that they figure it's maybe easier to stay where they are, rather than deal with the outside world in the acquisition of a ship?
