I should be writing a paper on the literary allusions in Melville's works. Am I? No, I'm devouring this fic. Yum.

I read this all in one go and it was just fantastic. Normally Apocalypse AUs tend to be big and overblown (in a good way), but I loved how quiet this was. It wasn't about ravaging marauders or zombies, just about how a young man makes it through day by day.

Your Arthur was wonderfully thoughtful, and appropriately young yet wise. And your Eames was fascinating. It's always a sign of a great story when I can feel for both characters equally, especially when it's only one POV.

And I totally forgot about our poutine convo till I saw the shout-out. You are terribly welcome and poutine is awesome.

Great work!

I was worried this might stretch my angst-coping abilities, so I waited until it was done to give it a read. What a gorgeous story! You created such a believable world and made the characters who inhabit it so authentic. I loved every minute, every second of reading it. The art was absolutely beautiful and enhanced the story in subtle, but crucial, ways.

I just read this WHOOOOLE fic in one sitting, and god, it was so beautiful---love the slow development of their relationship, the realism of the setting, and the survival and pain and sorrow that all comes hand in hand with the aftermath of an apocalypse (I also love the little bits and pieces about what happened-about how they don't really KNOW what happened), love that this was set in Canada (!!!), love Arthur and his burgeoning confusion about his sexuality, about his feelings for Eames, love Eames and his mystery, his willingness to start over--in many ways, the end of the world gave him more hope for the future by removing what was terrible in his life and by giving him ARTHUR, and that is both so sad, and so lovely, and so clever (I love in apocalypse fic, how every character comes from a different walk of life, and it is the skills they learned previously that help them survive--though everyone is put on the same playing field)

This comment has gotten out of control....suffice to say, I LOVED THIS

I am so sad to see this finish. It's a lovely story and I love the boys in it. Beautiful.
