Just saw Knocked Up tonight; it's a Judd Apatow movie, so I was predestined to love it, but the hours since have left me with two unforeseen questions:
  1. Is there a more brilliant, fueled-by-insanity comedic duo than Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen? Their scenes together in The 40-Year-Old Virgin hinted at the answer, but this time around there's no room ( Read more... )

As I wrote yesterday, the Paul Rudd/Seth Rogen/Judd Apatow triumverate might only be topped - or at least be evenly matched - by the Simon Pegg/Nick Frost/Edgar Wright force from across the pond. They have two different comedy rhythms, obviously, but they do share certain things in common - they are not afraid of being sweet and sincere, and they embrace debauchery in all its forms. I'm convinced that the 6 of them, if they ever collaborated, could take over the world.

been trying to convince liska to see this. doesn't help that the trailer (which we saw when we went to hot fuzz) makes the movie look like a typically retarded sex comedy. 'but look at the metacritic ratings! it's got a hidden moral core!' i suspect i'll have to see it myself.
