laundry fail

Feb 07, 2009 15:09

Today (just now, in fact) I learned that not all Smartwool is superwash wool. My favorite sweater ever isn't, for example. Blarghaladharaeraa34ar*headdesk*.

wtf, doom

I seem to recall that if you soak it in a bottle of the cheapest conditioner you can find, you can un-felt it.

Good to know. It already had a lightly felted texture, so it just felted more, and shrank. Stretching it seems to work, but not very well. I might do that. I'm so annoyed -- it wasn't cheap, and they still make them, so I COULD buy another but I feel like a tool.

I figure it's trashed now...might as well give it a try. Worst case you're stuck buying a new one, anyway.

Bleah, I hate buying clothes SO MUCH :( Not to mention having to replace things I trash out of being dumb.

My suggestion, don't bother trying to salvage it. If you need to get some use out of it, felt it more and use it for crafts. If you still want to be able to wear it, buy another one. I'm sorry, but I've never had any luck trying to unfelt things, it just makes me sadder and more frustrated.

In "good" news, they're available online for less than their recommended retail price..? looks unsuccessfully hopeful.

Hug!
