Day 2 was lovely, though steamy-hot. I know I can't complain about heat when it wasn't actually as bad outside as it sounds like Seattle was, and when I have a/c inside. (Sorry. Not to brag.)

I will understand if/when you continue to call it the metro but my reference point is St. Petersburg, not Paris. I routinely forget that King County calls their public transit system by the same name.

The traffic they weren't shutting down for the parade was crosstown traffic, which is to say East/West, as 5th, being an Avenue, runs North/South. Ish.

In colloquial usage, the 15 degree cant is ignored. North is uptown, east and west crosstown, and south downtown.

Random factoid: my great-grandfather was one of the financiers of the Flatiron building.

Oh, i love how un-corporate and semi-informal NYC Pride has always been, and to some degree hopefully always will be; the corporate crap is ghettoized to one place and sure you can sponsor things, but you don't get to have the Seafirst Bank Of America Seattle Pride Parade.
