the clerk at utrecht tried to talk me out of it, then relented

Otherwise vacuous retail therapy: broke down and got me a Rapidograph. Inking with a .5mm Pilot was getting too touchy.

They are just as annoying to use as I'd heard, and just as rewardingly sexy.

I'll be over here drawing hundreds of perfectly even .25mm lines.

Oooh yeah. But once you get the hang of them, they're sexy. I was learning how to copy music by hand, and they're the pens of choice. I have my set somewhere...

I think I have to buy another one. Because I bought a .25mm and - oh look! - I want to make thicker contrast lines too! Tried using one of my normal rollerballs to do the thicker inking and was suddenly very disappointed.

Finished three drawings last night, though.

"Hi, my name is adularia, and i'm a pen addict."

no seriously i am a very amateur artist at best, and i <3 koh-i-noor pens like i love cheese. nothing feels the same, nothing has the same control, and it feels kind of like a (TIRED CLICHE AHEAD) extension of my hand.

You might see if you can find a ruling pen - even more futzy but very cool, and adjustible from "are you sure there's a line there" to "I could land a Cessna down that line"
