Current reading heap has been expanded to include Stone Butch Blues. Um, fuck. I was given plenty of fair warning, but it's still making my heart beat in angry thuds against my chest walls.
I dunno... various people have warned me, over the last two-three years, that it's a really hard book, so I don't feel silly reacting to it. Even so, I keep being stunned that life really was that bad. Last night I read until p. 31, went to sleep this morning at 5am (went to bed at 2, but couldn't sleep), and felt horribly overprivileged. I'm sort of glad I didn't read six more pages or I wouldn't have slept at all.
