It's saying something, I think, that doing actual sumi-e is less frustrating than trying to simulate it in Illustrator. Yes, even with Undo.

The jury is still out on real jam sessions vs. Rock Band. I certainly had a good time.

I figured between a tablet PC and a choice of two graphics tablets I could probably get away with it. But it turns out I have no computational approximation for the most minor changes of direction and pressure in my wrist. So... yeah, you're right.

I'm not too surprised that Buddhists and Amish would both value that, though it is slightly amusing to attribute a technological approach to the Amish. :)

Illustrator CS$recent has a number of "art brushes". It's no Painter, but they looked vaguely promising. However, the ink-looking ones are so rigidly defined - they don't even respond to the tablet's pressure sensitivity unless it's one of the plain shape brushes - that it's more a caricature than an emulation of real painting. If you try moving the path around once you've completed a stroke, it starts spraying random splines and path-end artifacts everywhere.

I switched to doing real painting. Much much much happier with the result.

I do love being able to sample different instruments. I'm not that good on the drum set, okay but nervous on the guitar. I adore being on vocals, though I wish I knew more of the songs.

Need to play it again soon. :)
