Okay, can someone else please test this for me? I've been trying for a couple of days to play the KUOW stream at work. I had been using the Windows Media stream, but that's been looping a sponsorship message instead of playing the stream. I downloaded iTunes to play the MP3 stream, and it won't load or start playing, even if I copy/paste the stream

well they'll at least x-ray it, which is something one probably shouldn't do at home.

I wonder what they use for an x-ray source...

I suspect the solution involves wgetting the URL and manually poking through the playlist. There will probably be two mms:// URLs in there, the second of which will be their actual live stream. But that's just a guess...
