Am I just insane, or does Illustrator 10 not handle Unicode special characters properly at all

Are you sure it's not the font? Not all fonts can display unicode characters.

I was trying to insert a symbol that Character Palette claims is Unicode character 162. And it's happened with many of the fonts that I know can display Unicode. I just can't make CP insert those characters into Illustrator.

In my experience and for my purposes, CorelDraw Graphics Suite is (and has been for at least seven years) vastly superior to the Adobe equivalents (Photoshop, Illustrator, and Pagemangler[RIP]). It's also less expensive. And it's Canadian.

Somehow, this understanding is lost on the masses.
