Summary: Today is Ukitake's birthday. Kyoraku, unable to do what he normally might, has prepared a nice, healthy and inexpensive lunch for his best

[Ukitake has been awake for a couple hours already, feeling particularly good today health-wise, and knows that with the way Shunsui is acting, Plans are in store. Of course, Ukitake doesn't mind in the slightest, knowing that his friend has only the best in store for him (or so he hopes, as there have been various birthdays he cannot remember, probably because of the vast amounts of sake consumed). Shunsui is also one of the few people he knows he can trust completely, so he has no worries in his mind when he comes downstairs and peeks into the kitchen to spy on his friend's progress.

The strong hug which entraps him a moment later is also not a surprise, but he is thankful to whatever luck he possesses that he is in such good health today.]

Mn, you'll end up reminding me all day, I'm sure.

[Once he's seated in the armchair in the living room, he leans over the arm of it and watches Shunsui work in the kitchen, a pleasant smile on his face. It's nice to see his friend do something so mundane, probably because he himself

I don't believe there is such a thing as "far too good." [ If they're here for Ukitake's next birthday, he will have to top today. ]

I just hope you're not telling me what I want to hear. [ Shunsui wiggles his eyebrows. Of course that's not what his best friend is doing, but it is a good lead into his next, and very nosy statement. ] I'm sure Unohana and Urahara always do something special to celebrate. They've probably already got stuff planned for today. [ There is no denying that romantic gleam in his eye. Perhaps he could use Ukitake's romance as an inspiration for his next novel. ]

Even if I confess that I enjoy it? Besides, I am almost always brutally honest with you. Why would I stop now?

[He pats the floor one another side of the coffee table.]

[Ukitake smiles as he then sips his tea. He's used to Shunsui bypassing most of the rules when it comes to his own personal life. Not that he minds too much, of course. Ukitake likes to think he is a relatively open book, after all.]

We haven't been together that long, but if they have planned anything, they have failed to inform me.

[ He sits down with a grin and leans over the table with a look that is now more devilish than romantic. ]

So it's probably a surprise then~ How fun~!! [ He's assuming it is anyway. Unohana seems too sweet to forget a lover's birthday, and Urahara couldn't possibly pass up on alll of those spankings. Shunsui's not even sure what the exact number is anymore, but he chooses to forget his own age too, so it all works out. ]

Hopefully I'll get to keep you for a while before you're swept away. [ Is that a little wink? Probably. He takes a sip of his tea and sits back. ] I've got some plans of my own after all~ [ Why is he making it sound devious when it's not? Because he can. He doesn't have much planned, other than lunch. Shunsui's very good at going with the flow though. ]
