He'd managed to avoid most of the kids around here. He just couldn't be bothered, and other, nicer people had jumped in and rounded them up for the most part. But Naruto didn't have the best judgment on a good day--Renji doubted turning into a little kid had helped any. So he pretty much felt obligated to follow him out there. He could kinda relate, after all.
Renji followed the coordinates of Naruto's PCD, winding up near the paintball arena. Once there, he heard muffled crying, and decided to hang back, hidden around a corner. He knew that even at that young age, Naruto would be too proud to want anyone else to see. Once the noises stopped, he started walking again, stopping in front of the cabin.
"Hey, kid," he called out. "It's me, Renji."

"What do you want?".
Despite scowling, despite being hurt (and it healed, suprisingly - thx kyuubi) there was a small, tiny, itty-bitty glint of a joyful feeling, that someone gave a shit that he - Uzumaki Naruto; breathed, and he was hurting.
Sure, a whimper may have surfaced - but come on. He's seven for Pete's sake.

Hell, he didn't know how to deal with kids. But maybe not having Renji loom over him would be a good start.

That stiff little lip was, quivering - just a little. But not by alot. That was when the soft, and short set of lungs were crying. "All the rest of the kids have parents." His voice warbled with emotion, as he mumbled. "I don't know why I don't got any." It was harder to stifle cries without tears streaming down one's face.
Heck - it was hard to do anything without feeling stupid for crying, "I want a mom and dad too. But I don't have nothin'." You could hear the kid welp, and sniffle from the amount his sinuses were overdrawn with. "Do you have parents Renji?".
