With Mireille at the library still, the house was almost eerily quiet. Jean Louis’ footsteps against the wooden floor were very audible as a consequence as he went to answer the door. It was wrong somehow, this silence - as if he weren’t used to loneliness. It was all he remembered, living alone. But the feel of it was very wrong. Incongruous.

The Animus and their perverted tricks.

Opening the door, he gave John a smile. Such a formal, straightened-out exterior. It was very fitting, of course, considering what he knew of the younger man so far; but also just a tiny bit amusing. Clothes could grant authority, couldn’t they? Jean Louis was very casually dressed in comparison, but it didn’t matter to him. While he couldn’t remember his past identity, he had no fear of losing ground.

“Monsieur,” he said, stepping to the side and leaving the door agape. “Come inside.”

Nathaniel gave him a respectful little bow, looking up toward Jean Louis with a wry smile.

"Thank you."

As he entered the home- much like with Tom's- Nathaniel took the opportunity to glance around, as if he could glean something from Jean Louis' life or his mind from the way he furnishes his living area.

"How have you been?"

"Fine," he said, heading for the living room and expecting the other man to follow suit on his own accord. "Somewhat confused." He paused by one of the chairs (mismatched - the flood months prior left them with sparse pickings concerning furniture). "The Animus really haven't been generous this time around."

The table was bare, except for three heavy stacks of handwritten notes and a small tray with cups and a kettle full of hot tea. He signaled for John to take a seat. "Please."

He moved forward, nodding at him and sitting where indicated. Nathaniel wasn't much one to judge- not quite used to menial labor, his own home had taken quite some time to put into any state near acceptable.

"Thank you. The Animus have been acting quite... strangely. I finally got the chance to interact with them, but- I can't remember why I wanted to."
