Sneaking into the Phantomhive house was rather challenging, considering who the butler was, so Urahara had opted to just... openly waltz in, with a gift of catnip for Sebastian. Hopefully the demon would find it an appropriate offering for his cat. That done, he took himself over to the room that Ciel had chosen to situate himself in, offering a cheerful greeting along with a flick of the fan.

Of course, he was summarily ignored in favor of a book. Alas.

But Urahara was certainly not one to find fault with a good book, so he bounded over to the armchair and rested his arms on the back of it, head propped up on his hands as he read over the boy's shoulder. Was he being ignored? He didn't notice.

Ciel's mood grew increasing more sour when he realized that Urahara was ignoring the fact that he was ignoring him. Surely the game was afoot. Even so, he kept reading for a few minutes -- the Hound of the Baskervilles, from a Sherlock Holmes anthology.

Finally, he found himself unable to concentrate and moved the book lower, closer to his face to make the angle harder for Urahara.

Really? Ciel was going to go that route? How long had he known Urahara now? Almost a year, if he remembered correctly, long enough for Ciel to have learned that doing something like that wouldn't deter Urahara.

In fact, it would just encourage him, hence the shopkeeper leaning in even closer to read the book, his chin almost touching Ciel's shoulder.

Perhaps -- but Ciel was still only fourteen, and prone to bouts of irrationality from time to time. He could afford to be a brat around this particular man, mostly because he tended to put up with it.

Ciel silently brought the book nearly to his face. Noooo.
