You were there like a slow torch burning. I was a key that could use a little turning.

It would be a horrible lie to say Rapunzel hadn't .. exactly known what to do or how to feel after Flynn up and vamoosed for the week. Ish. He'd been going around calling himself Eugene and acting strange, and she knew it had been the event, and she really shouldn't have let things get to where they were but... She had, and now she had no idea how to react.

So she'd sat at home, miserable and ignorant of almost all the goings on in the city. It wasn't until the unfamiliar tune of M.I. drifted from behind her door did she actually bother to investigate. The knock helped too, of course. Eugene-- No. Flynn. Opening the door let her own tune mingle.. semi awkwardly with his own.

"..Flynn?" It was getting a lot easier to call him that again, strangely enough. She wasn't sure she liked it.

Flynn did. Or, well, it made this ten times easier on him, anyway. It meant she didn't think there was something there that wasn't there or anything. His music had cut off abruptly when she entered the door and changed to something lighter, underscored by the first few awkward murmurings of his attempt to articulate. "I...Uh. Look, about that thing a week ago. I just wanted to make sure we were on the same page here. That... Wasn't me. Maybe it could've been, but it's not. And it's not that I don't like you... I just..."

The music was starting to swell now. He floundered for actual words. Flynn Ryder? Rendered inarticulate? What madness was this?

Her own music had died down, either winding to a close or hitting a softer break in the song. Still, she listened, chewing the inside of her cheek as he spoke. This must really be what heart break feels like. The same horrible ache she'd been feeling since he left; since she knew he wasn't 'Eugene' anymore.

But she slapped on a brave face, however wobbly it was. "N-No, it's okay. I ... I get it." It was the event. He didn't suddenly remember everything, he didn't suddenly have feelings for her that should have been there but .. weren't.

"Good. That's... Good." If it was, then why the heck did he feel so damn awkward? The fact that he'd had such a kneejerk reaction and screamed all over the network said this was obviously messing with him in ways he wasn't comfortable with. I can't imagine not knowing you? Was that what he said?

Come on. Flynn Ryder didn't say things like that. He loved them, left them, and they swooned as he rode off into the sunset, back to his island castle.

His... Lonely island castle.

He pressed a hand to the door frame, the music sounding vaguely like a tinkling piano. He didn't even think before he started supplying the words, "I should tell you, I'm disaster... I forget how to begin it."
