Hitsugaya had finally found him. It had taken about as long as he'd expected, but that didn't make the wait any less annoying. At this rate, Hinamori was going to return to life before he managed to finish this. With a light tsking, the young rogue slipped his way into sight and out of the shadows. Best to get this over with and move on to those shinigami who weren't locking themselves up like rats.

"Ukitake Jyuushirou."

The last few days were hard on Ukitake, and not just because of Metastacia wanting a taste of freedom. This world was new with all types of souls to...befriend, but of course the ex-Shinigami wouldn't allow that to happen. It would cause more trouble than good, even if letting the Hollow meant he could die and not worry about this anymore.

And then there was the Hitsugaya issue, which honestly frightened him. He had promised he'd make his location apparent to all in case the young man came to find him. And yet...

And yet when he showed up, past Ukitake's kidou barriers, he didn't do anything. Despite everything, how screwed up they both were, he still held such affection for the other man in front of him. Surely there was still some good inside.

Ukitake didn't flare his reiatsu.

"Don't do this."

But underneath his questionably calm exterior, Ukitake felt the Hollow awake fiercely, ready to attack should his container face any harm.

"You know why I'm here," Hitsugaya replied tonelessly, ignoring Ukitake's begging as he stepped closer. "You know, but you're not sending for aid."

"You'll regret this," he continued, rising shakily to his feet. Again, the Hollow started to fight to gain control, to lash out against this threat, but Ukitake clenched his fists and kept him at bay. Violence wouldn't solve anything. "Next week, when this is all over, you'll hate yourself."

DOWN WITH HITSU whitelikedeath April 19 2011, 18:50:28 UTC
He turned around slowly, eyeing those who had just rushed in. More than one at a time would be impossible for him, he knew, but he didn't try to run. He'd wanted them to come to him. Now they had.

Order = Urahara, Ukitake, Unohana, Hitsu? mere_shopkeeper April 20 2011, 00:52:14 UTC
He remembered arriving at the abandoned building, remembered feeling Ukitake's reiatsu spike and then drop as he told Unohana to go in first while he used those first few seconds outside to put up the barriers that would keep Hitsugaya in and others out. It wasn't because he didn't care, but rather because he knew that if they were too late and he rushed in without securing the building first, it could mean yet another victim. And if by chance they weren't too late, Unohana could do much more than he could to help the dying man.

It wasn't because he didn't care, but rather because he cared too much. And he knew he needed to do what he could for the future while logic could still govern emotion ( ... )

Unohana had rushed to his side as well, but her hands did not start to emit that glowing radiance that they did when healing. It was too late, and she knew it.

She searched for his hand, holding it in hers. The tears were near, but they would not fall not now. Not yet. Not here.

"Juushirou-san ..."

She closed her eyes, swallowed, turned to the smaller figure in the middle of the room. She was angry, but her eyes were mostly full of pain and pity for all involved here.

"It ends, here and now, Hitsugaya Toushirou."

PARTY ON whitelikedeath April 19 2011, 18:58:23 UTC
Hitsugaya had contacted Raven as requested, knowing she would undoubtedly get a taste of the chaos and entertainment she desired. People had been following him; they hadn't gone unnoticed. People had been herding others away from him even. In the end, the reality was that he didn't care. They could run wild to their heart's content, so long as they left every one else confused and helpless in their wake. He had things to do.

Raven flew to the place Hitsugaya had indicated as soon as she received his message. She wouldn't have risked missing such a show. It had sounded promising and the fight between the two shinigami didn't fail to meet her expectations. It was violent and unrelenting. It wouldn't do for anyone to interrupt it and spoil her fun. So, while watching the fight with an evil and content smile on her face, she still kept an eye out for anyone who would try to attack Hitsugaya. She would sense them coming from afar anyway.

There was a soft sound, as Mars landed a short distance away from Raven, eyes fixated on the fight below. Her heart was thudding in her chest -- she shouldn't be here, she knew she shouldn't -- but Mars, somewhere, had a sense of loyalty to Hitsugaya... and an even greater sense of loyalty to the innocent people they were going to be killing.

And Raven was a part of that.

"Stand aside and I won't have to hurt you, Raven," Mars murmured, eyes fixated on the demon girl before her. "That's the only warning you're going to get."

"So nice of you, Rei~." Raven gave a very sweet smile, much too sweet and her look was all but sane. "So it's only fair you get a warning from me as well. Don't interfere. First because I promised Hitsugaya I wouldn't let anyone step into this until he's done. Second because I promised myself to bring down anyone who'd spoil my fun. Third..." She paused and her smile turned cold and devious. "I have no lesson to take from a traitor senshi."
