The Kyuubi

The first path out of the village is dark. Not just from the lack of light, but the heavy presence of something evil. There’s bubbling all around, like lava - red and fierce and everywhere. The Kyuubi is going to have something to say about seeing you here, depending on your interactions with Naruto (the Kyuubi has witnessed them all). Naruto spends a lot of time dreaming about the Kyuubi. Nightmares of losing control and hurting his friends, or indeed his enemies.

Ranma decided to go outside the village first before coming in. As he did so, he almost immediately regretted it as he felt the sheer aura of evil that covered this place, making him involuntarily shiver. Of course, Ranma being Ranma, he attributed it to the 'cold' and continued on despite his feelings, unable to admit even to himself that he was afraid.

In order to steel himself, he had to delve into the Soul of Ice to remove himself from his treacherous human emotions just so that he could continue on. Ranma Saotome was no coward after all!

The path shifts and changes, as you walk - each step brings you deeper into a cave-like structure where everything around you is a mix of fiery orange and deep blood red.

At the end of it, if you dare venture that far are two huge iron gates, and in the join of the two a small paper seal.

There's no one else here but the Kyuubi, locked up behind the iron. "... What's this?"

Despite the foreboding feeling increasing in magnitude along with the creepy change in scenery, Ranma trudged on. He was protected by the Soul of Ice from the worst of the dreadful feeling that lurked everywhere in the area... but it didn't stop his surprise for what he was about to see next.

"Whoa. That's one HUGE Kitsune." Ranma remarked in shock as he looked at the massive fox locked in some sort of prison with a paper seal, ignoring the Kyuubi's question deftly. "Are you someone's pet?"

Naruto's House

On arrival, it's clear that this is the room of someone in their early teens. There are clothes everywhere, the bed is unmade, and there are cups and plates littering the floor. This isn't just a bedroom though. The whole room is one house. To the right of the bed, and all those clothes stands a table, clearly supposed to be a dinner table. There are empty milk cartons, ramen cups, more bowls and chopsticks here. Whoever lives here lives alone.

Fox peers around the room curiously, not sure why she's dreaming this. Such a run of strange dreams lately! Still, after a few minutes poking around, she decides to start cleaning up, for lack of anything better to do. She starts by starting to make the bed.

Naruto isn't too far behind, wandering into his 'house' with an armful of something in a brown paper bag.

His eyes widen when he sees Fox, and he stares for a while before yelling.

"H-Hey, wh-what are you doing in my r--- Do I know you?"

"No, I just appeared here. Do I know you?" Fox huffs a bit, annoyed at getting such a rude reception when she wasn't the one who'd asked to be here.

The Academy

It seems just like a school house. You're in a long corridor, and as you walks through the hall there are several doors. In some of them, there is only the quiet hum of classroom life, others are filled with laughter, and there is one in which three young genins wait the arrival of their sensei. Each room tells a tale of Naruto's time during his academy years. If you walk far enough, you'll reach the end of the corridor which opens up to a large 'garden'. There is no bright light of the sun here, just a huge line of people - they're all staring, cold. You might sense hate from them, or fear. To the right, just under the only tree in the garden is a swing, and single wannabe ninja, sat alone.

...some sort of school house, apparently. Fox wanders through the hall and peers in through a few of the doors, wondering what's going on inside. What a strange dream. She wanders and wanders, wondering where the way out is. Finally, she comes out in a garden, though far from a cheerful one. She looks around, considering the line of people before turning her eyes to the blonde. Is that the same boy from earlier? It looks like it is. She's not sure if she should approach him or not.

That little boy is sat astride the swing, feet hanging over to scrape along the floor as he sways on it quietly, forehead pressed to the rope.

If you wander closer, you might just be able to hear the whispers of the adults around them.

'Can't believe they let it take the exam'
'Shhh. You mustn't speak of that!'
'He's a monster!'

Fox considers what she's hearing for a moment, then walks over to the blonde boy. Now firmly in 'mommy' mode, she kneels down to eye level with him. "Hey. You okay?" He isn't at all like the teenage brat she'd run into, and she doesn't like hearing people refer to a child like he's horrible just for existing.

Ichiraku Ramen Land!

On a lighter note, most people know that ramen is pretty much a staple in Naruto’s diet. Imagine Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. Only , now imagine it with ramen.
Look, there’s the ramen river - if you follow it far enough you might just make it to the waterfall, where all the noodles get mixed up with all kinds of nice meat! Nom.

A little further down, you might just notice Naruto. He's the same age as he is in Adstring, no older than sixteen - but with a large bowl in hand, he's laid down on the floor by the ramen river, both hands holding onto the bowl as he reaches out to try and scoop up some of the rameny!goodness.

"Nnf. A little more, 'ttebayo!"

The Hokage's Room

The corridors through to the Hokage's rooms are full of memories. It seems like every door leads to a different memory. It seems happy and cheerful here.

There is a room, at the very top of the building. This is the room furthest away from the place you started out at. Who knows what you'll find here?

She knew this place, of course. Had been through them herself. That was probably why she did not really realize that this was not her mind, her dream. Not yet, at least.

Go on, Hinata - keep going up to the top of the building.

It's there that Naruto will be 'sleeping' at the Hokage's desk, sprawled out over the top of it, Hokage hat firmly on his head, and that cloak - similar to Minato's on his back.

Hinata blinks at what she sees, then smiles. A soft, serene smile, a with a bit of wetness in her eyes.

"N-Naruto-kun ..."

This hat, these clothes ... this place is Naruto's dream. And by extension it is her dream. The one she wishes to see come true the most.
