After surveying the "network" for any Senju activity, Madara decided that it would be alright if he took a small break. He would be bringing the strange little box with him, so it wasn't as if he would miss anything. He knew Izuna was somewhere close by, so he decided to seek him out.

It took him a few minutes to look through the house and eventually Madara found himself outside. It wasn't long before he noticed his brother sitting in the large tree outside the house. He climbed the tree with ease and settled himself next to Izuna.

"Good job Otouto. This is a good spot to keep an eye out for the enemy."

This high up everything looked so small and accessible. He kicked his feet again and worried at his lower lip, watching passer-by's with the sudden impish desire to start dropping acorns on heads. Unless a Senju learned how to fly there was no way of reaching them here! Except for cutting down the tree, but he wasn't too worried since something like that would take time.

He bumped shoulders with his brother and nodded quickly, eyes alight with excitement. And mischief.

"Mm...! I can see everything from here!"

Madara smiled at his brother and ruffled his hair a bit before looking off into the distance of the Safezone, his own feet moving back and forth as they hung in the air.

"Has everything been clear up here, Izuna?" Madara questioned, as if he were the commander of a military unit. "No Senju sightings yet?"

It was strange. He hadn't seen one Senju here yet. Normally, back home, the Senju wouldn't waste any time in attacking Madara and Izuna, especially if they were separated from the clan. But so far...there had been nothing.

Maybe they were planning a sneak attack.

Izuna whined faintly and ducked away from the hair-ruffling, seeking out his brothers side to glue himself against instead. Up here the wind kicked up higher and pulled invisible fingers through his hair, snatching his sleeves and the hem of his pants and sending chilly drafts up the back of his kimono. Instead of tightening the belt, he huddled into Madara instead like a space heater.

"I haven't seen any yet, but Senju are sneaky. They could be hiding and waiting for me to lower my guard. And then they'll strike!"

Sasuke had seen someone climbing the tree and thought that maybe it was his new friend Toushirou. But when he got close, he noticed that the person didn't have the white hair that Toushirou had. He stood at the base of the tree, hand resting against it as he peered up into the leaves and branches above.

He had to squint to be able to see who it was, though... The person in the tree, as far as he could tell, was...him.

It took Izuna a moment to register what he was seeing down below. That person looked like an Uchiha until he narrowed his eyes and paid closer attention to the little details. And then it spooked him almost enough to dart behind thicker, concealing branches to escape the sight. That person looked exactly like himself! What manner of genjutsu or henge was this?!

Instead of hiding, he squared his shoulders bravely and took a steadying breath, then hollered down at the imitator. "Who are you?"

Eep! Sasuke hid behind the tree trunk a little as his look-a-like addressed him. Well... he didn't think it was a genjutsu or someone trying to fool him, like that weird lady... So it couldn't hurt to tell him his name, right?

"'M Sasuke...."

"Hm...!"

Izuna hopped to his feet and barreled down the side of the tree before he had a chance to change his mind. Rapid steps brought him to Sasuke's level quickly in a vertical sprint, and he dives to the ground in front of him in a flurry of leaves and wind.

One hand points dramatically at Sasuke, the other propping on his own hip in a no-nonsense way. "Tell me why you henge'd into me, trespasser!"

Hitsugaya Toushirou wasn't really sure what to think. What with Sasuke and those other kids calling themselves shinobi and talking about chakra. But they didn't seem too bad. They weren't like everyone in Rukongai anyway. No one had called him "cold as ice," no one had tried to avoid him. In fact, plenty of people seemed to be doing the exact opposite.

So it was with unexpected bravery that he peered up into the branches of the tree and waved back.

Somewhere high above, Izuna squeaked and nearly went toppling. The air was suddenly very cold, cold enough to prickle the fine hairs on his nape and tickle up his arms. He squirmed and scooted to the tree-trunk so he could swing his legs over the branch and jump. A frightening death-defying move to be sure, if not for how easily and lightly he caught himself on the branch just below, and then another, hopping his way down until there were no branches left.

It didn't seem to matter, he just transferred to walking on the tree itself in a vertical rush down to Hitsu, like the usual laws of gravity didn't apply. "You tickle the air," he proclaimed when he was close enough to talk, eyes curiously wide. "It's all prickly!"

Hitsugaya jumped at the reaction he'd incurred, and he could only follow that up with yet another jump when Izuna came racing down the trunk of the tree. For a long moment he could only stare at the other boy, uncomprehending of the accusations against him. Then it all hit him at once, and he took a step back, nearly tripping over himself in his haste.

"I don't do anything like that! What are you talking about?"

"Mm..! See?"

Izuna held out his arms and pushed back the sleeves to bunch at his elbows, so he could show the pretty stranger-san his goose bumps. It didn't seem to bother him in the least, if his small 'brr' and smile were any indication. Instead he inched closer, to see if proximity had anything to do with it.

The closer he got to Hitsugaya, the stronger that tickelish feeling was! What a strange bloodline limit!

Little Severus had gotten the coordinates of Izuna's location earlier in the morning. It was now late into the afternoon when he finally found himself under a large tree, covered in dirt and scratches from all the times he had tripped over his jacket or gotten attacked by some monster or other when he wandered too close to the wall. He really had only just wanted to pet the kitties and bunnies... Who knew they had such sharp teeth to try to take his fingers off with ( ... )

Izuna had almost drowsed off by the time Snape arrived and scuttled into a huddle underneath his tree. A sleepy eye squinted open at the first sniffle, followed by the other and then his mouth on a silent jaw-stretching yawn. He rolled over and free-fell several branches, far enough to further wake and grab for a hand-hold before the branches ran out. Leaves rained down on poor Snape from above before Izuna appeared, sleepily walking straight down the tree and ignoring all the laws of gravity, physics, or ordinary human common-sense.

"You made it," he cheered, only to have his voice dashed apart by another yawn. He reached the ground and stepped away from the tree, falling into a crouch beside Snape so he could offer a reassuring smile. "And you're all mussed up, did you get in a fight?"

The rain of leaves from above made Severus cry out in surprise and hold onto his bundle even tighter as he buried his face in the cloak that smelled like a multitude of potions. Peeking up at the familiar voice, his dark eyes widened almost comically as Izuna quite literally walked straight down the side of the tree before dropping down next to him. Despite the smile, it took him a while to find his voice again and instead of a returned smile, all Izuna got was another sniffle.

"The kitties and bunnies here aren't very nice at all. They have t-teeth."

Lots and lots of sharp teeth at that, if the smudges of blood had anything to say. Oh dear, poor Severus, getting beat up by cute furry animals... However was he going to live this down?

"Oh... maybe it's someones summons? It's not a very nice thing to do though, tricking someone with fluffy things that attack." Izuna huffed another sigh, then set to work prying light and careful at the folds of Snape's tattered clothes to better see the scratches and bites. They'd really messed him up, hadn't they?

"My healing jutsu isn't that good," he warned before concentrating. After a few moments a light green glow started misting from his hands, and he touched them to Severus' shoulder to disinfect the wound there and coax the skin to shut again.

"They ruined your clothes," he lamented, "come inside, you can have some of mine! And you need a bath, you smell like bunny. Bunnies don't smell very good. And then we can eat. And train!"

Itachi had been out and about trying to keep himself from straying into any thoughts that ended with tying up every Uchiha to a leash. He had found Madara and had kept tabs on him, Sasuke had found him first so that was never a problem. The only one missing was Izuna. His Izuna. The boy had disappeared from his radar and it was only logical that he worry. That was just one of the many mutual things they shared. After findins and searching, he finally caught a trace of a child's chakra. It led him right underneath a rather grand tree. He looked up.

Why did kids choose to seek the highest or most dangerous places for their entertainment? Itachi tried to think back to his childhood. His favorite place was the forest, certainly it wasn't as dangerous as a tree. Hopefully he wasn't so clumsy.

"Izuna-kun." He called out squinting through the leaves.

His first reaction was fear. A sudden rush of skittish adrenaline spiked through his system and sent him plastering flat back against the base of the tree, his heart in his throat and his hands scrambling for weapons. Senju...! A Senju had found him, a powerful adult one! Why hadn't he thought to grab more weapons than a single senbon needle?

He cast around in a panic and grabbed the first thing within reach.

With a small, high war-cry, acorns suddenly rained down on Itachi from above. To arms!

He hadn't been expecting a hail of acorns when he called up to Izuna. His eyes widened as he saw how much one single chil could actually throw. Was he shaking at those leaves until they all fell at once? Regardless, a slightly annoyed Itachi side-stepped casually without too much of a hassle. His voice was slightly more stern now, however. He was still working on hsi patience.

"Is that your way of greeting fellow Uchiha? Hos disappointing."

Itachi figured that if Madara was running around thinking the Senju did everything, then this was probably the same case with Izuna. The boy was a strange one but he noted the bravery. Uchiha children were all the same in that aspect, they fought for their honor even before they really knew what honor was.

"Stop this."

His fingers were scrabbling for his senbon when Itachi's words broke through the haze of mounting panic, and released the wind from his sails all at once. The stranger with the really high chakra level was an Uchiha..?

Oh. That was different, then.

His hands fell away and the acorn rain stopped as quickly as it'd begun, with only one or two strays left to clatter their way down and roll harmlessly around Itachi's feet. A pair of red, red eyes peered over the edge of a wide branch, suspiciously slitted.

"Show me your eyes," he demanded, his voice only wavering just a little bit.
