The first thump made Bennett frown in annoyance. The second made her glare at the wall next to her and wonder if the mushroom had suddenly decided to get cheeky. The third and she remembered her invitation for Topher's 'friend' to come over and have applesauce so she made her way downstairs (glancing in Topher's direction, but he was engrossed in his project in the main workroom) before opening the door.

"Oh, hello! Good afternoon, and all of those things." Letting Ciel in seemed like a better idea than not, so she got on that, pushing the door aside with her right arm and shoulder. Huge heavy thing.

Ciel rather liked the greeting, not a lot of fuss, but still well-mannered. He distrusted the feeling just as quickly.

"Miss Bennett." He reached up and gave his cap a bit of a tip, settling his face into the smile that wasn't really a smile, his "entertaining" face. "The same to you."

He watched her struggle for a moment with the door before he realized he should probably help her, but by then, he figured it would just be easier to wedge himself inside. He opened his mouth to tell her it would be much easier with both hands, then frowned.

"Have you hurt yourself?"

Fuss was not something Bennett was a big fan of. A lot of pomp and circumstance and for what? Better to get to the point but you could still be polite while you did it.

Smiles that aren't smiles didn't bother her; if that's the way Ciel talked to people then that's the way he talked to people.

"Hm? Oh, something like that. It's old." Three years old, really, but by then the door was open enough for him to get past without squishing either of them. "Topher's still working, so you can probably bypass the lab and head directly towards the kitchen."

Ciel's courtesy did extend to leaning against the door to help her close it, rocking back on his heels to do so. He had no problem with something so minor -- but more than anything, he wanted to see how she reacted.

"Of course, wouldn't do to interrupt."

He waited for her to lead -- mostly because he had no idea of where the kitchen was.
