Beyond was restless.
He expected his thoughts to run round in circles, but strangely nothing like this happened.
It wasn't even pain.
It was just the feeling of being restless, unsure what to do.
He would die. Killed by another criminal. Greater than him. More important to L than he was. And L wouldn't care.
What was there that he could still lose? He felt like he already lost everything. There still were his friends, but that was diffrent. They had nothing to do with his purpose.

So he decidet to take a walk. It was good to feel the fresh air on his face.
He hadn't been noticing that he walked in direction of the lake, so he was slightly surprised as his feed just brought him there.
Then he noticed another person. He regocnized him in a second.
L.
The man he had surrendered to.
He thought it would be good if some feelings would arrive. They didn't. He just felt empty, staring at the man.
Then he took a deep breath and walked forward.
"Hello", he said quietly, hoping this wouldn't end with him getting blind again.

Lost in thought, L did not notice Beyond's approach until he was beside him. It was like looking in a mirror with deliberate mistakes; L's skin was slightly fairer, and their facial geometry had variations; L's face and nose were longer and his irises were grey, though his eyes were often dilated to a point where one could scarcely see them. Beyond wore clothing accented with shades of black and red, as opposed to L's simple jeans and white t-shirt, and he lacked L's distinctive raccoon-rings that made him look perpetually sleep-deprived, and he had much better posture. Face to face, L could almost have been envious of his backup, but he kept this to himself ( ... )

"Nothing. I just accidentally saw you. I don't know... If I meet you, I am unable to go away, you know?"
His voice was calm, with no hints of hate or anything else.
He showed his empty hands to L as he realized the look L had given him.
"I have no weapons, since I was just out for a wald. Anyway... Why would I kill you now?"
It felt strange to talk to L like this.
But there was no need... no need to be hatefull, no need to cry or be anyway else emotional.
Beyond was walking like always, his face like always.
But after his last conversation something changed. His eyes were broken now.

L did know. He knew well enough from experience that Beyond was exactly like him, in that he tended to fixate and obsess to the point of complete immersion. Sadly, it was a good quality for a computer detective, albeit a poor one for a well-adjusted human being.

"Your reasons for wanting to kill me shouldn't have changed," L said, still appearing braced and tense. "I burned your eyes. If anything, you should want to kill me more for that. Not only that, you're aware of the way I feel regarding Asahi's motives. You don't consider it a race, now, to see who can kill me first?" L's tone was terse and annoyed, but his eyes were hunted and harried. He couldn't help but notice B's eyes, though... something had changed since the last time they'd seen each other.
