Through the broken shards of glass and crumbling ruins of the building, the Shinigami easily spotted the woman in red coming the direction he instructed. Nothing more than a simple smirk played on his lips before he quietly stood, hearing the echoing of the knock from her hands on the door.

The building was hardly the lavish home he had been living in with Angelina before this, and he rather disliked sharing such filth with common men and women, but dire times. Such sad dire times~

"A lady in Red is the most beautiful thing to see in a world full of gray." He spoke, rather loudly with the tint of English in his accent. And with that, he easily dropped from out of the window to the ground beside her, offering a bow with curtains of red hair spilling over his shoulders. Emerald eyes peeked up from over the rim of his glasses towards her. "And red on you, dear lady, is most beautiful of all." He said. "Allow me the pleasure of introducing myself! Grell Sutcliff! A most humble of butlers.~"

A smile played on her lips as she looked up, hearing him speak. Carmen nodded when he landed next to her, returning the bow. This was the second time someone here had associated her trademark color with something. She was curious about its meaning in his world.

"I thank you, Mr. Sutcliff." Not altoger pleased with herself for not seeing him above her, she pushed that back. Later she would work on her own training again. "I am Carmen Sandiego. A not-so-humble thief." Everyone here already knew who she was, she might as well be open about it. Besides, it could serve her purposes. "It is a pleasure to meet you." She held out her hand to him.

"You are finding life acceptable in the city so far, but lacking for thrills?" She was not altogether good at small talk, though she could attempt it. She preferred to speak on matters and get them understood when speaking to someone that caught her interest. Dodging politely was for conversations with people who considered themselves 'good.'

A smirk crossed his lips and as any proper man from the 1800's would do, he graciously took her hand and kissed the back of it. "Such a pleasure to meet a thief." He said rather eagerly though in his head he knew his work went far beyond mere thievery.

Once Grell released her hand, he brought it back to his hair, fluttering some bangs from his line of sight with an overdramatic sigh. "Such a boring place this is! The thrills I encounter would be such an awakening to this city should I start up again." She said before turning his gaze and eyed the woman.

"You did come to find out what exactly my 'thrills' are, didn't you?" He asked before he walked past her to the door and opened it, bowing his head and extending an arm to the inside. "I can tell you happily in secrecy~"

Carmen had expected him to shake her hand. The kiss was a surprise, but she took care not to show it on her face. It was rather charming, which was very rare in this city. Her work was a little beyond theft too, here, but she had no reason to elaborate yet. "One does not often meet a butler."

She raised an eyebrow, watching him closely. His movements seemed slightly theatric, as if he was putting on a show. But if he was as good as he seemed to think he was, than a show would be worth it. "An awakened city would be a pleasure," she said. It was neutral enough.

Carmen nodded and stepped inside, past him, actively searching for traps or dangers. It would not do to be injured or incapacitated. She had plans, after all. "I am interested. There is little that is exciting in this city, and I do wish to know more."
