Tia examined the globe curiously, then touched one of the gems. She found herself in a bustling city, similar to any port like the ones she knew back home. But most interestingly, she seemed to have been taken directly to something important, with a familiar face looking up at it. Smiling, she approached the other woman.

"Miss Carmen, correct? Do you happen to know where we be?"

Carmen's eyebrows went up. A woman was approaching her and smiling at her? There did not seem to be any agents around, and the woman seemed genuinely friendly. "You found me," Carmen remarked, assessing the situation. "You do not know where in the world here is?"

Well, she could at least humor the other woman. After all, she was good at getting out of situations if need be. "We stand in front of the Baiyoke Tower II, the tallest building in this city and this country. This country is one of few monarchies left in the world. They use Baht as their currency, and the primary religion is Buddhism."

Carmen turned away from the building. "You know my name. Might I know yours?"

"Tia Dalma. And no, I didn't. It seems a bit similar to some of the ports back home, such as Tortuga, though a lot more, shall we say, organized." Tia looked at the tower. "This be the second tower? Then the first is somewhere."

She looked back at Carmen. "You are well-informed. Have you been here before?"

Carmen looked around the city. "It is fairly well organized. The stability of the country would serve to cause this. The architecture is also quite lovely, Tia." She considered for a moment. "That is not a name on any of the agency's lists. You are simply traveling on your own?"

"I have, a few times. I enjoy travel and landmarks. It is my passion, my pleasure. I take it you have not been here before?"

This is not my world. The thought floated up and Saul didn't know what to do with it.

No - he'd seen globes, and this was no map of the Earth he knew. The general lines were the same, the same number and vague outline of continents and oceans, but the details differed. It took him a while to locate what he thought might be Ilyiga, though he couldn't be sure. This is not my world. Whose world is this?

These things were easier in a dream.

He almost touched it, a gem embedded in the site parallel to his homeland, then decided not to. Perhaps he didn't want to see. Perhaps... the worlds would not be different enough. He chose a different spot, not on any continent. Somewhere in the ocean. Yes, that ought to be safe -

- and then he was back in the city, not far from his own house.

Saul blinked. That was no help at all. Just a strange dream? Now of all times? He looked around, trying to find any key differences.

The city is much smaller here than it is in reality, compressed, almost. The occupied houses are here, and so are the important buildings, but much of the city is gone. And, of course, important buildings are those that Carmen would see value in - those that seem to be older, that seem to have a history to them, or that stand out due to their appearance ( ... )

The sense of familiarity nags at Saul, but he can't quite place it, not to his satisfaction. There is a pattern here that he ought to see, he knows, but deja vu makes it elusive. He knows these buildings from around the city - it looks as though it's been distilled to its essence, the noteworthy, the interesting things...

The interesting things...

Suspicion forms, but it not yet deemed decisive. He gazes towards the inner city, wondering as to the extent of the metaphor. It'll be an invasion, of course... it surprises him that this concerns him at all. Being in another's mind is the ultimate sort of power, after all, to reach in, see them from the inside, the cracks, the mismatched places and weak spots. But if his suspicion is correct... it would be a cruel knowing.

After a minute he turns around and instead walks into his own house. He is only a man after all, he can't be faulted his curiosity.

The door of his house is not secured; she knows that its location is public knowledge. Once inside, one is greeted by a very pleasant scent, that of the dinner he'd made. The house itself feels watchful, aware, somehow, as if one going in should be careful about where they step. The table is set, but with water instead of wine.

There is a figure of Saul watching out the window. He is still, unmoving. Approaching him would give the observer a sense of danger, but not a direct threat at this point. Touching him, though, yields more of an impression. Identifiable in the swirl of sensation are interest, curiosity, awareness, watchfulness, warmth, and a touch of blossoming... something. It could simply be that she hasn't had much conversation before that appealed to her. It could be a beginning sense of what other people can be besides tools. There is something, there, and as she cannot put a name to it, neither can her dream.

Part of Oliver wondered if he was going to find people like him, as he stared at the jewel encrusted globe. If he looked close enough, would there be real people, with proper ears and tails?

Didn't really matter, though. He was used to be unusual, he was. He didn't like it, but he was used to it.

He walked around the globe, curious at the all of the markings. It was odd, how they are...wait. There was one that didn't belong at all, there. In the middle of the stupid ocean. Someone had really screwed up. For some reason, it made him angry, even.

He reached out to pull it off...it shouldn't go there.

As he touched the stone, the area started to grow and expand until the city rushed up to greet him. He wound up near the center of Adstringendum, an altered city. The destroyed and relatively worthless buildings were gone. Remaining were buildings known to be inhabited, and those that seemed to have unique architectural details, or maybe a story behind them.

Nearby was Unohana's clinic, but just as close was the wall of the inner city, and part of Carmen's trenchcoat could be seen as a breeze moved it back and forth. Oliver was free to go wherever he wanted.
