In retrospect, Ace was glad that the Doctor hadn't shown up. The thought of him appearing only to disappear again, while she was left behind on her own, made her heart twist so painfully that she thought it might stop.

She could only imagine - all too vividly - what it was like for those who did gain someone dear only to lose them again, and that imagining pushed her hard. The Wastelands were dangerous, Naturo wasn't easy to find... but find him she must. It didn't matter that the friendship was new and just budding. He was her mate now and she'll look out for him.

Except that when she found him it looked like he could take care of himself pretty well.

"Oi!" she bellowed from down below the tree, dodging falling branches and hoping her voice would carry. "Quit that! That's a perfectly good tree you're breaking up!"

"It's firewood!" He hollered at her, then jumping down from the tree and huffing. True enough it was merely a budding relationship but that's how alot of Naruto's best friendships managed to grow. He dispersed the clones he had and knew any minute or so he'd feel a little woozy, so he sat down and rested - looking to Ace.

Sure - he could beat up his frustrations on a tree, but at least with this firewood they could also at least keep the chill off above the bar. Naruto didn't say much else to her because he didn't feel like talking as it was. "Did anyone else follow you?" He didn't want anyone seeing him like this, it'd only upset his friends knowing he was this annoyed over the fact that he was doing as such.

All of weight of his body, he could feel now - and he controlled his breathing while keeping himself level-headed about this.
