Summary: Near wants to make himself scarce, so he recruits Skyler to escort him through the Wastes for a few days.

Near stared at the fire solemnly, the flames flickering as though desiring to burn the black coals that were his eyes. He was aware of the Chimchar's eyes on him, but he said nothing. Deep down, he wished he'd brought his cat with him -

'No one else would tolerate those hands on them...'

- but he knew it was necessary to leave behind anything he'd possessed. Even his old life.

"I thought there'd be a lot more monsters," he admitted finally, breaking the silence for Skyler's sake as opposed to his own.

"Well, we aren't that fr from the Safezone yet. And Kiba and Hige mention only small creatures seem to live near it," Skyler replied, having a seat near his friend. "We may see more tomorrow." He hoped not, but couldn't ignore the possibility of it happening.

"Oh, I have something for you!" he said, digging in his baf until he produced two different colored scarves. "These will help you move around and stay safe if you wear them, Near."

"I guess that makes sense."

Near grew slightly tense as Skyler moved closer to him, but relaxed soon enough. When Skyler withdrew the scarves from his bag, he glanced at them and held out his hand, blinking rapidly.

"What are they?"

Skyler held up the first. "This is a Mobile Scarf, it let's you walk on water and through walls and stuff." Then he held up the other. "This is a Pass Scarf if something gets close enough to attack you then it will pass the damage to another close target. I grabbed to give you for just in case." Skyler was taking his current job very seriously and had no intention of letting Near get hurt if he could help it.
