[The crumpled letter has a piece of paper inside which bears a strange symbol on it- a yellow orb of light. Like other similar packages containing immaterial things like magic, it will absorb itself into Marisa the moment she touches it. She'll be able to sense right away that it's healing magic- and whoever it originally belonged to was certainly powerful, because she'll be able to feel the strength practically begging to be let out again.]

What was that?

[ Rita hasn't seen an immaterial regain. Her own magic came form her blastia, a red core in the gold necklace around her neck. So she's legitimately confused. ]

Woah.

[Marisa blinks as she stares at the orb on the card. Her whole body feels so TINGLY. She's never had more than the bare basic healing magic before.]

Magic. Healing. Pretty potent from the feel of it. This is... Wow. [blink] You open the next one.

These envelopes have magic?

[ Rita's picking one up... looking at it curiously from every angle.

It's too thin, it can't hold a blastia. But magic didn't necessarily need a blastia here...

It was something to investigate.

So she'd slowly open it. ]

[This envelope also contains a piece of paper with a photograph; this time, the picture is all black. A thin wave of light runs through it.

The magic that absorbs into Rita is of a slightly different variety. The sudden shock of telekinesis as it grips into her mind is not a pleasant one, but after it settles into her she'll feel calm all over, and she'll be able to sense what the power can do; the psychic resident of Mayfield meant to regain this power could move or transport any object at will with just a single thought.]

[Marisa leans over to look at the card, but can't figure out what it's supposed to represent. Earn one curious look, Rita.]

So?

It's--

It's something I've never felt before. This is a lot different than working magic through a blastia. Is it even magic?

Some monsters and-well, Estelle-can manipulate aer without a blastia, but their bodies contain formula that make it possible. This is completely lacking any formula, a raw strength and energy.

How can I even quantify this type of energy? It's a power without an element, and it doesn't even feel like magic...

Not that magic should feel like anything. It's unnatural to feel a power like this inside of you. Magic is supposed to come from a blastia, and--

[ CONSIDER YOURSELF LUCKY, MARISA... she catches herself before she really starts to ramble. ]

It's a type of magic that lets you--lets me--manipulate objects at a distance.

I'm not sure if I can even call it magic, though. It feels like the power's originating from the mind.

From the mind? Sounds like telekinesis, ze. Me and the other magicians of Gensokyo can mimic it with magic, but only for utility purposes. Nothing close to anything a telekinetic can do.

Cool.

[She looks at the remaining letter and the package. Now that she had a better idea of what might be in them, she wasn't sure she wanted the package or the letter.]

Rock - paper - scissors for who gets the package?

Personally, I wish there was something else to really study. [ Something that would give her a clue on how this place worked, or how to get out. ] But if these are all we have to work with...

I suppose that's a fair way to decide.

We have something - that Westport crap. And what was that about Estelle being in Mayfield?

Anyways...

[She holds her hand out and does the count off.]

One two three!

[And throws rock.]

[ Rita scoffs at that. ]

Estelle's not here. I would know if-

[ Oh. She threw scissors.

That means she lost. ]

...I don't think it works that way, ze. I was here before, but I don't remember.

But let's open these at the same time.

[Marisa takes the package and rips it open, peering inside.]

[ Rita... actually looks rather concerned at that statement.

Still, she opens the envelope at the same time Marisa opens the package. ]

[In a remarkable... coincidence(?), inside the package, Marisa will find something of her very own. It's her hat, and in just the same condition as she last saw it before coming to Mayfield.

As for the letter Rita opens, in it is a photograph of a mask. The ability that is absorbed into her is a strange but useful one depending on your intentions; whoever possessed it before was able to assume the identity of any other person, although the shapeshifting does not extend to animals.]
