In Defense of Food

Believe it or not, I read a lot. I just don't talk about what I read here (well, other than comic books that is) because I have a whole 'nother blog where I keep track of what I'm reading and write up my book reports on them there. I heard an amazing interview with Pollan on CBC about two months ago. He is so insightful, presenting ideas that make so much sense yet diverge from mainstream science. His whole explanation that "food is not nutrients" is amazing. Eat carrots, don't take Betacarotene, for example. He talks about the undeciphered complexity of our digestive systems, how food has evolved along with human beings, etc. I haven't read the book, but the interview alone was very affecting.
