There it is, the last one of the promps I answered in the Dean focused h/c meme at
hoodie_time . The promp was once again anonymous and asked for Dean, being torture on a altar with Sam and Bobby or Cas watching, helplessly. After that, Dean was to be crucified. So, I guess this is my first crucifixion story... enjoy!

I have emailed you separately with a few typos etc..
By the way, on the technicalities of crucifixion and where the nails would have gone - in order to hold a man suspended the nails would have to have been driven though the wrists not the palms/hands as the hand would have just torn under the weight of the body; even with some of the weight being taken by the ankles. That wouldn’t necessarily upset your plot device of Dean tearing one hand loose to throw the knife as you had him doing it by tearing the nail itself free from the tree - which would actually be more feasible if the nail was through the wrist than through the hand anyway. (More leverage..)
Oh and bashing nails though ankle joints - bone damage would be inevitable I should think.
Don't we know some gruesome things?? :D

As for the details of nailing someone to a piece of wood, recent studies (and actual experiments) have proved that yes, a nail through each hand can support the body weight, specially if aided by the a second leverage point, namely the ankles.
As for Dean's ankles, well, I didn't say the bone wasn't broken, did I ;) ?
Without the benefit of an X-ray, since they wouldn't be taking Dean to a hospital, and with the amount of edema that such a trauma would cause, it would be impossible for Sam to ascertain any bone damage that soon. The guy was just being hopeful, 'cause, yeah, fat change there's isn't any *g*
Yup *g* we do know some very gross stuff!

I dunno - somehow that makes it worse - having nails through the hands with enough weight hanging to eventually suffocate - yep, I'm with Dean here - demons I get, people are just crazy ...

I actually cringed writing some of those scenes, so, it's awesome to hear that they worked :)
