Written for the SPN Writter's Lounge Wednesday drabble. Mary's thoughts through her life. Spoilers for 4.03.

She became an orphan, but she couldn’t leave her hunter ways behind; she had her normal life, but it was all an illusion, a trick of light and mirrors; she kept her past from John and doomed John’s future to become her past.

This was lovely. I especially liked these lines:

He gave her a choice too. A warning to be heeded ten years in to the future, a choice that sounded so silly and pointless when it left his lips that it too would’ve been forgotten if it weren’t for the tears in his eyes.

Dean crying... *sigh*... gets me every time. Great job!

*wipes at tears* Stop doing that to me! You hear me? STOPPIT! *waves flappy hands* Just .. I hafta hug you now. Mary's heartbreak is so palpable.

*sighs* I am both sad and happy. How is that even possible you could do that?

Oh, Mary. Oh, Dean. Oh, Winchesters.

It's so sad and heartbreaking that really they were doomed from the start. That Mary's past became her family's future all because of a choice and lack of choices. You captured that beautifully and I will put this in my memories for later reading.
