Our family isn't the most... athletic... family in the world.  We have a tendency to spend more time indoors, playing games (board, role-playing or computer - we're equal opportunity) or reading a book.  But last summer, something happened that got us outside a lot more, got us walking and exploring more of Nashville.  Last July, we downloaded Read more... )

There's no doubt that Pokemon has been a positive, at least for getting people moving around. Aside from the playing at Arlington National Cemetery or other such places, like the NYC Subway tracks, there's definitely an interest in getting moving!

Sorry for the delay in replying. Life has been a bit busy! You're right, though. It definitely helps people get moving more than they may otherwise. I love seeing people out at some of our big Pokestop locations here in Nashville walking around and trying to catch Pokemon! Thanks for stopping by!

I usually tend to sight weedle a lot. It is fun playing pokemon especially with family. My husband and me take a weekend stroll hunting for pokemon. This was a nice read and it did make me *smile* because of the similarities we share.

We do share a lot of similarities, don't we?! I've got a lot of pidgey around here. And with Gen 2, a lot of Sentret as well. But it does make those moments I find a Sudowodo all the better! :-)

It cracks me up that Pokemon is still an obsession. My millennials grew up starting out with Tamagachi pets and graduated to Pokemon, and to my surprise even I as an adult enjoyed them. The Pokemon movie made me cry, and Pikachu is a big influence in my home's happiness, as he is in a lot of families now.

The fact that the creators care about getting kids and families, and people in general out walking and having actual contact with one another? Through a game? That's awesome in itself.

Thank you for this write. I hope your family continues to take walks and spend time together. Hug and peace~~~

My husband used to play Pokemon with his younger cousins back when it first came out. I've been so glad that it's been such an influence for us and that we're continuing to find ways for it to keep us together. I'm just hoping that the weather stays nice for us to get all the walks in we're hoping to get over Spring Break! *hugs*

I am glad that Pokemon go has helped you and others get out and enjoy nature.I haven't paid attention to pokemon since my oldest stepson who is now twenty-four switched from pokemon to Yu-Gi-Oh oh so many years ago.

I've heard that from a lot of people. Pokemon seems to be the "gateway drug" for a lot of Collectible Card Game players. I've found a lot of people that started out in Pokemon come back when they have kids of their own starting to get into the card games. :-) Thanks for stopping by!

I was walking with a friend last summer who played, and suddenly he stopped all "there's something in this lot". I continued to walk slowly, and he caught up eventually all proud of whatever it was he caught. The greenways sound amazing, it's good that you've got a reason/excuse to explore them.

Oh, they are! I never knew how diverse Nashville was until I started exploring them. And I'm looking forward to exploring so many more!
