Willow's talking about morals. This must be serious.

Ok. The people at LiveJournal are being bitches. I don't like bitches. (Ok, well, apart from my friends...) But no, srrsly. They're crackin' down on my favorite fandom. (Well, the BuffyVerse gets equal love, though I'm newer to that one... only not really because I've been watching Buffy since I was six, but I just started reading the fan ( Read more... )

The difference is that pedophilia is illegal and being pro-ana isn't.

It's not about morals, it's about not getting sued.

Doesn't make it right. Support something that hurts people and deny something that doesn't? I would understand if there were actual law suits. Where are they, exactly?

Pedophila does hurt people, Willow. These characters may be fictional, but pedophila hurts people at least as much as anorexia does.

LJ is bound by the laws of the United States. If you're questioning what's right, question the laws of the United States, not LJ. I'm sure that the people at LJ would rather keep this stuff up--I've been past their head offices in San Fran, they're a bunch of free lovin' hippies. They're doing it become some asshat with a stick up his ass has likely threatened legal action. Most companies seek to avoid law suits, so when one is threatened, if possible, standing down is preferable.

When PJs was faced with a law suit over it's old name we stood down and just changed our name rather than duking it out in court.

Don't shoot the messenger.

They. Are. Fictional. Characters.

As long as they are not real, there isn't really anything that people can say. It's not illegal, technically, because we have rights to freedom of speech, which allows this to be said as long as it's in the proper forum (i.e. on LJ and not on public radio)...

So tell them to take themselves elsewhere. And if you want, look up the bill of rights and post the actual words that give you the right to use whatever characters you want to do whatever you want with them. I'm sure there are other laws too if you are interested in backing yourself up.

Don't let other people push you around if you can avoid it.

Good luck!

It's not really about being pushed around... It's... I kinda don't WANT to stay if they're going to do this sort of thing... but at the same time I do want to stay because... Well, I like livejournal. Haha. *shrug*
