I really don't want to go to school in Maryland... College Park I'm applying to simply because I don't want to go to Montgomery College, and I have a very good shot at the Honors Program I think. McDaniel looks really cool, though. How's college and whatnot?
Yeah, I'm going to try to get into that habit... I just looked back at some posts I made in 11th and 10th grade, and it's really cool to have a self-written chronicle...

Thanks!
Actually the list is almost entirely of my own design. I feel kinda crazy, chosing to apply to 11 schools... but at least I have a definite safety net and a lot of really good schools. And Maryland is the only "safety net" school that I actually have a problem with (22,000 undergrad - fucking insane).
Of course, it also means I have to write a shitload of essays. The Common App is cool and all, but four of the schools I'm applying to don't take the Common App, and the rest almost without exception require their own essays as well.
harvey mudd we can chill if i don't get in to penn and magically get in a claremont college! and congrats on national whatever with the PSATs. my mom showed me the gazette from forever ago today and i was like "hmm, i know 5 of 7 from WJ, 2 for 2 at SR (go figure), 1 for 1 at the Heights, 1 for 3 at St. Andrew's and 1 for a bunch at Whitman...why is everyone so smart...."
I'm actually thinking of not applying now... I absolutely love Harvey Mudd and I think it's the most amazing school for what it does, but I'm not sure that's exactly what I want. Plus, seeing as its across the country, I think I should really want to go if I'm going to apply. Good luck with Penn, though! And the Claremont Colleges!
At first I was all, "Oh, cool, semifinalist, yay, a test I took a year ago simply because I had to is actually doing something for me." Then I realized, "Oh, shit, they want me to write an essay. I hereby decree that I shall procrastinate doing this until several days before it is due, and that my mom shall bug me ceaselessly about it." And so it was ^_^.
Maybe I'll post too someday. and I totally agree with that love hate colleges thing. I always have write college essays on my list of things to do, but I don't ever get to it.
I spent forever trying to answer a college essay prompt today. I've yet really make an answer though. All I can say is that hopefully everything will be magically done by deadlines. :D
XD, yeah, I'm with you on the deadlines. I told myself I'd start redoing my Chicago essay tonight... well, if it happens, the rest of my homework won't.
OMG I'M APPLYING TO OBERLIN WE CAN BE DORMMATES!!!!!!!!!!!11!!!
On a less capslocked note, I'm feeling the college stress too. Two of my top three schools have early action due Nov. 1st. I should probably get working on those essays, no?
See, you're schedule is getting easier, whereas, I'm failing mine. I'm also taking AP Calc AB, so I don't know where the disconnect is (maybe because you're smarter? duh?).
I'm literally getting an E in one class..but that's because I haven't turned anything in for the past two weeks or so...I should get on that.
