Paige, calm down. You get your folks to fill out the FAFSA and you get grants/take out student loans. It's what people do. And you're lucky: because there's two of you going to school at the same time, the government cuts your family a financial break. Also, a lot of schools give out merit-based scholarships, and there are tons of external scholarships if you have the time to apply for any of them.
Well, the school was in New York, but it was Sarah Lawrence, not NYU. I was just taking a random shot, going off rumors I'd heard regarding good colleges for writing and such.
Just wondering b/c that's about the ballpark for NYU's tuition. It's one of the highest, so I figured the odds were good that it might be my current academic home.
It costs me an average of 19-20 thousand dollars a semester, without aid.
I applied for aid this semester, and the total cost was only about 700 dollars. And that was without the loans, just the grants and work study. You'll be fine, and my advice would be to avoid the loans and try for grants and scholarships. Despite what the world seems to tell you, debt doesn't have to be part of the college experience.
