Yes--and as per a lot of his fans, the ambiguity about him is probably the reason. There's untapped potential there. From what we see of him, his relationship with Mello seems pretty level, which really is incredible seeing how Mello treats pretty much everyone else he interacts with. Mello uses people--it's a harsh fact about his character, but he refuses to use Matt in the same way he manipulated Rod Ross's mafia. I always had the impression that was because Matt refused to be manipulated--that Mello's brand of crazy didn't affect him. And maybe Mello admired that. The fact that we'll never know is the attraction.

Matt--although Mael Jeevas is pretty kickass.
