I leave a big tip with every receipt

It's been a while since I've done a poll or an informal poll, so I think it's high time for one.

The question of the day is "What is your favorite* dream/fantasy sequence from a TV show?"*Favorite being a relative term, of course. Could be just one you enjoy greatly ( Read more... )

fandom: miscellaneous, poll

My favorite is probably Restless, the s4 finale of Buffy. I think it is one of the best, as far as using the past to show what is coming. Plus, the Cheeseman!

I am undecided whether it is better to know from the start, or to discover later that you are in a dream sequence. My Mom still thinks the end of Newhart was one of the most genius things ever.

I love that dream sequences can show off skills you don't expect, or crazy thoughts the characters don't routinely show. They are, to sum up, just fun. And David is a sexy mofo.

He sure is.

I like "Restless," too--I'd forgotten all about that!

There was a great one on Frasier where Niles and Daphne where dancing.

The X-Files had some good fantasy sequences- there was one that took place in the Bermuda Triangle (the episode is called Triangle, and it's kind of too complicated to explain in one comment), and another episode called "Field Trip" turns out to be literally a "field trip"- it makes absolutely no sense until you realize that Mulder and Scully are hallucinating as a result of mushrooms in a field.

I also really like the episode "The Chrismukk-huh?" from The O.C. It's an "It's a Wonderful Life"-type episode about what would have happened if Ryan never came to Newport.

Oooh, I love "It's a Wonderful Life"-esque AUs. ML did a good one and it's one of my favorite eps. The one you cited is good, too, plus there's always "The Wish" from Buffy.

There are some fantastic ones from Scrubs that I love something terrible. But there are too many to list here.

Newhart for the win.

I think Newhart might have been the most genius series finale ever.

Don't get me started on series finales.

Hey you have an icon of that last scene!

I prefer dream sequences when you think at first that it's real and then gradually start to notice things that seem weird until suddenly you know it must be a dream. I like that whole "wow, I can't believe they're doing this...oh wait they aren't" twist. Of course it only works once!

We've been watching S1-S2 Buffy and there are some good dream sequences in there. I especially like the ones with Drusilla and Angel that Buffy is having when they're about to bring the Judge to life. Drusilla just calming walking down the upstairs hall of Buffy's house is particularly chilling.

This icon? Or a different one?

I like the surprise dream sequences as well. And then it's fun to go back and watch it and try to figure out the differences.
