Carnival Review

Dec 22, 2006 10:11

Apparently all the talk of slash and yaoi annoyed matociquala away from reading reviews. Which is a shame, I think, because I believe in positive reinforcement. And this might be my favorite of her books to date.

I'll try not to let the OMG!SQUEEEE!!! and drool overrun as I type, but no promises.

I wasn't going to get Carnival until after the New Year. ( Read more... )

recs, ebear, reviews, geeking, books

I'm waiting for the library to (hopefully) acquire Carnival to read it, but just wanted to say that this:

"She likes books. And biology. But we can't really get her biology."

made me giggle. (People have, on several occasions, attempted to give me "chemistry," but it never worked out particularly well :)

Oh, do read it. I have a feeling you'd like it as much as I did.

And how does one give "chemistry"?

And how does one give "chemistry"?

When I was younger, via crystal-growing and other chemistry-related kits/sets. Later on, somebody gave me a molecular model set (not for a class, just for fun), which was actually pretty cool, although I never did manage to construct a bucky ball out of it. And then there was a fellow Chem E who was attempting to woo me and gave me an Erlenmeyer flask he'd nicked from lab, filled with Hershey's kisses and sealed off with Parafilm, and a vial of mercury. Well, I guess you can't go wrong with chocolate and shiny metal... (But then, I've written love notes on bits of silicon wafer, so who am I to talk...)

I guess one could try to give "biology", too -- there's always Giant Microbes, but it's not really biologies unless it wiggles... :)
