God, that conversation fucking sucks.

You did an awesome job catching that moment, the one where you think you might lie but realize that it's not going to work. It also feels very right that there's so much repetition ("I'm sorry" "I'm sorry" "I'm sorry" like a litany).

I had a very similar conversation with my parents when I came out. My mom cried. My dad looked like he was going to be sick. They're still dealing with it ... 7 years later.

The last thing my dad said before I left to go out for a drink with friends?

"Don't tell your grandma."
