but i'm looking for a MacBook Pro 15" EMPTY BOX, preferably the an aluminum/unibody model. (it's for part of a gift)
quite happy to even pay for it or postage or whatever.

You have probably thought of this already, but just in case :)...If you have no joy here perhaps contact a Mac/PC repair place, I imagine people take their computers in, don't like the repair price and never collect them.

oh, i actually hadn't thought of that! or more so, i'm little worried that if i ask a retailer they might think I'm stocking up on boxes for some nefarious purpose.
i have some other leads/options, but not for a 15". only 14 & 17" and i am to nitpicky to just settle. haha.
