Over Sensitive Writer alert.

I know it's me and I can only blame the fact I am on augmentin for my ear infection which is known to produce mood swings and and depression (like i needed more) in people when they are on it, but this comment really kind of smacked me in the face. (I realize it's mostly very kind and excited and nice, but... not entirely and I have been worrying ( Read more... )

Um, I hate to burst your bubble, but "over-sensitive writer?" Redundant phrase there. We're all over-sensitive writers. Seriously, I can sob over the least little thing someone critiques about my story. "So-and-so is too mean" or "You're rushing things" or "You're portraying the character incorrectly because he/she's not like that at all in real life..." These things have stuck with me and some of them are from months ago. It doesn't mean that anything is wrong with you. When you write, you're putting part of yourself that is usually protected by whatever guard dog you've invented to keep safe out for public consumption. The fact that I've been able to post anything that I've written on LJ for the last two years is a miracle, because I've hidden the fact that I write from everyone for 20 years, too scared that someone will say something negative ( ... )

This person liked it enough to refer to it as perfect. I tend to like comments like this. I try to pull up a dialog with them and see what they saw, but I know I'm an oddball.

I don't see anything on the link either. :(

it was the part about being cliched and over sexual. *snuggles* it's okay.

I didn't think it was possible to be over sexual in fanfic with NC17 ratings and as for cliche. It's a fanfic, some cliche is mandatory.

Cliche=overused expression or idea.

We use the same characters over and over. Dom/sub combinations are very common.

I find that anyone who says their work isn't cliche in some aspects hasn't realized that everything has been done before to the Nth degree. The question becomes if you are a good enough writer to use those familiar tropes in fun and interesting ways to capture people's hearts and make them beg you for more. Which you do. You have an inventive style that is uniquely your own. You create fun and original worlds for me to adventure in.

I agree with both peace and min. First with being someone who is only beginning to learn to write, I am amazed by the ability all you have in expressing your thoughts and stories into words that others can understand and feel so they can transport themselves into your worlds....if only for a moment ( ... )

wow the first comment is so right in every way, i can only second it. i really can't word it any better.

if i ever got a comment like that, i would go back over my fic and ask myself, "but would i change anything?" and usually the answer is no. i put my heart and soul into what i write and it is what it is. i am sure it is the same for you.
