We didn't make it to the bicycle bell concert after our birthday party. Other things I didn't see last week were Dawkins, Death and Dissection - don't get your hopes up, that's two events, not one - and Dr Ben. As hatmandu observed, 'Someone ought to open a university round here!'

Wow, the cake! It looks like j4 is drawing it freehand, but I'm assuming that can't be so. Still, now I am aware of the existence of the liqourice pen, so thanks for that.

Good, innit? Janet impressed a 'blind' grid on the icing through greaseproof paper before starting. It was at this point we realised that, where the crossword cake had 14 x 14 = 196 squares, a QR code has 41 x 41 = 1681 /-:

Ah, very clever thinking. Yes, I bet it was the kind of activity that is fun at first but soon becomes tedious. Worth it for the end result, though.
