Meh, 4 on Sunday? I won't really be able to make that as I'd have to leave to get back to Oxford almost straight away. So, may I wish you both happy birthday in absentia.

Thank you. The date was squeezed between engineering work on the trains and a wedding. But we find ourselves in Oxford surprisingly often, so can look you up.

Hope you both have a great time, and lots of people can be there in person.

I don't think it will be possible for me to make that, without having to return right away, so will have to say happy birthday in absentia.

And now I realise I've written almost exactly the same thing as your first commenter... Sigh.

Tony will be inconveniently in Nairobi but I should be able to pop along.

Liz and I share a birthday, too. We save even more money by not having parties. Instead we sit shivering in front of a fairy cake bearing a solitary candle while looking at the cards we got in previous years when we still had friends...

Well, a good one to you both.

And I do like that icon.
