[He came to him. Bleeding through his disguise, barely able to move, Kaito finally trusted him enough to come to him when he was in need. To ask for his help.
And all Issei could do was hold him while he died.]
[Issei barely lifted his head to glance at Lancer before dropping his gaze again.]
H-he's always been in danger. He's never let me help him. Every time I told him he said it was too dangerous for me. That he didn't want anyone else involved.
Why... why would he come to me when I can't do anything?
[But no, this was not the kind of solitude that came with the simple absence of others. This was something at once simpler and yet so much more complicated.]
['Traitor.']
[This was abandonment. He'd lost all that was ever important to him--family, friends, comrades--and now there was nothing. No one.]
['Womanizer.']
[It wasn't true. it wasn't true, wasn't true, wasn't true--! He'd tried, hadn't he? This curse wasn't his fault, and he'd done everything to make sure the women that fell for him weren't hurt too badly. For Lancer, 'womanizer' was the worst thing he could be called. He had never disregarded or brushed off even a single woman unfortunate enough to fall to his curse.]
['Puppet.']
[Why? What had he done to deserve this? Why did it hurt so much?]
[Alone, broken, and betrayed by everyone that mattered, Diarmuid Ua Duibhne fell to his knees and sobbed silently into his hands.]
[Nasuti sees the fallen warrior - not bruised or bloody, but very much broken. She silently walks up to him, about to place a hand on his shoulder, but stops short.]
Lancer...
[She knew what he had meant when he said he had no fear. Warriors seldom do, because they can never foresee something affecting them so greatly. She tried not to show any pity, but knew all too well the severity necessary to shake such a strong man.]
I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'msorryI'msorryI'msorry--I don't want to be alone. Please, I beg of you, don't leave me like this...I'm not a traitor, I'm not--

[Azula is surrounded by three bodies, all in various stages of dismemberment-- Cuddy, Lilith, and Vriska clearly all died in excruciating pain, judging by the expressions on their faces]
[Azula had been unable to stop Cain as he ripped them apart while they were still alive]
[she really was weak, and a failure, and here was the proof-- the people who had given everything to her and the young girl who she would have given everything for were dead, and she was alone]
[He failed in guiding her. It's not too impossible for such a thing to happen when she's weakened and there's no golden torii to pass under. And...he can't help her now, not when she's dead. Dead in the stone cold sense--gray instead of white, inanimate instead of the embodiment of creation and warmth and all that is good itself.
He'll have to wait one hundred years again for her to return. Until then, he wonders how the world and her children will suffer, especially during these times. He kneels by the statue, the idol, the frozen kami, his omikami, the one that showed him much more of the world than he could have thought even existed. He's as numb and cold as the snow that gently settles around them. One hundred years is less than nothing, but--if he actually started counting the seasons as they pass...]
[Kefka bites his knuckle to quiet his laughter. Now is not the time for taunting; he's just here to watch. To see if this drives him to ultimate despair, or if he'll move on. It'll be good drama.]
[ - or at least he would if he didn't trip on a tree root and fall on his face with a loud] Oof!
[He turns abruptly. What--how--why of all people is Kefka here? Him falling out of a tree would be funny, but Issun is not in the mood for laughter. He turns away.] ...Go away.
[ defeated and left to die, Morrigan's throne had finally been taken from her and she had lost everything.
she laid on the ground, covered in blood and mortally wounded as she looked up at her castle from her good eye. her wings had been ripped off of her back and one of her arms had been damaged.
How did he get so strong? Why couldn't I defeat him this time? ...What's wrong with me?!
all of the power that she had lost and been re-fused with couldn't help her now. nothing could. and now, it was time to finally die ]

[That...was not good. Whoever that was, they were well beyond saving. And Issei--was he alright? He didn't look injured, at least.]
...what happened?

[Lancer knelt down beside Issei, putting a hand on his shoulder.]

Even my magic can't fix injuries like that. So I'll stay here with you. Does that work?
