I noticed Pres.Obama's acknowledgment--as did many of you as well most probably--of the irreligious/atheist/secular etc. community during a part of his inauguration. I have to say it's a first for me, I have never heard any political figure give direct recognition to the non-religious numbers within the U.S, and even though the atheists were ( Read more... )

Lincoln was supposedly an athiest president. In fact I've heard many of the older presidents did not invoke the 'religion card' to help their political ambitions. Such use of ones belief should be called out as pandering immediately, but we all know the media wouldn't bear this focus. Even if it is so obvious when Bush comes in touting religion and a country persona to assume he has the vote of every backwards, bucktoothed, retard in America. ugh, religion + politics = migrane

A Black was elected when it didn't matter as much as the gravity of the situation. A non-believer will be elected under the same circumstances. I voted for Obama because I had to, to save my 68 y.o. white dude butt. If it comes to that, I will vote for a professing atheist to save my Christian butt.

As for atheist presidents, I suspect we just had one.

I prefer my atheist and homosexual friends out of the closet.
