What is to be done with parenting?

Quite frankly we need an alternative to parents because parents more often than not regard their children as property and they are not as infallible as they wish they were.

What do you propose?

Parents have kids, and from that point on they do everything they can to make sure that kid falls in line with their set of values, no matter how backwards or irrelivant it may be. I've met a lot of trannies in my day and when they come out to their parents the answer is almost never even SLIGHTLY supportive, and it usually takes years to repair the relationship on the generous assumption that that ever happens.

It's not that parents are fallible, it's that deep down they don't care about the individual behind their children.

It could be that the ones that have parental support don't end up looking for said support on the internet but either way I've seen too many lives ruined by their parents' superiority complexes.

I'm kind of sleepy but I think I got my point across.

I agree that a huge percentage may be like this, but I disagree that it's always the case - my parents are 100% capitalist, conservative voters, but they're more than happy with me as a person - I've never gotten any shit from them about my communist political beliefs or my sexuality, they've never attempted to change me, or force their beliefs upon me.
On the contrary, my parents have encouraged me to think for myself, and become an individual.
I have a healthy relationship with both my mother and my father, based on mutual respect, which I think is the key.
Admittedly most parents are not like mine, but I just wanted to prove that parents don't have to have radical views to raise their kids 'correctly'.

lol, ah yes, the 'perfect' society. Or, at least one judged as such by the subjective measures of order and taste, a bitter taste ( ... )

I think I was 14 when it came out and I was SO impressed by it. Now it's just kinda quaint. I still own a copy though, it's fun to watch sometimes.
