EEP! YOU'RE BACK!!! I MISSED YOU! How long have you been back? *scampers off to check*
Alright, my dumbass didn't post the comment until after I'd already commented on your previous entry. (at least the one I can see *eyes you suspiciously*)
The entry you're not seeing was a stupid thing that I made private shortly after posting (rather than deleting). Nothing interesting. I don't do filtered posts. :)
You and I have and have always had that right. We have the right to choose to go into, or not to go into a smokey environment. If there is a demand for establishments to be smoke-free, there will be such places.
To pick an analogy, if you're looking for a café and you don't want to breathe in traffic fumes while you eat, you avoid cafés near busy roads. You don't petition the government to outlaw cars. (however nice a world without cars might be)
In itself this isn't about rights, "rights" are an issue when there is no choice. We are not being forced to breathe bad air.
I understand and agree that you have good points but there's still something fishy. What about the waitresses who have to be in those environments for a living? It's bluntly inconsiderate. If you want a drink, legally you have to be in a bar or your home; so why can't there be the same logic?
Indeed, while I hate being near smoke, it's my choice. The government should never be allowed to encroach on civil libery unless it really does have to. And it really doesn't.
