I was kinda waiting for this one. Not sure how popular this opinion is, but this song just sounds terrible live. It's one of the main reasons it sucked for his first single.
But on the album? OMFG LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! This may be the only song we have heard live that sounds better on the album and it's just an awesome song. I think it represented what Adam wanted to say about himself as an artist upfront, so in that sense releasing it as a single made sense, but that's about it.
If I had to go out on a limb, the live version he did at iHeartradio may be the best one, but really doesn't match the hard hitting beat and vocals of the album version.
I couldn't agree more. I love Adam and think he's incredible, but honestly this song doesn't sound nearly as good live as it does on the album. I was trying to be PC about it in the main post, but I agree with what you said. I think it has to do with the fact that it's such a fast paced wild song, not to mention it's in a different key that he probably has difficult singing in reliably. I have no doubts he could do it in the studio, but to be focused on the performance, stage, audience, etc. and be able to do it without stop, it's got to be difficult.
LOL I wanted to be PC, but just couldn't. I've been trigger happy waiting for this song to be posted!
I do want to stress tho that it really is one of my faves on the album. Love the lyrics, the beat, the sexiness and how it makes me feel. Also, and I know it wasn't asked, but the FYE video is hands down the best video he created and I'd be hardpressed to think that would ever change for me. That video summed up what I love about the song and Adam.
Hahaha, I know what you mean! Couldn't agree more.
It's definitely in my top two or three on the album (started off as my favorite), so I love it a LOT. OMFG the videoooo...easily my favorite too. I about die every time I watch it. It's so goddamn sexy. Oh, and very well put together. But we all know we're looking at Adam <3
The album version is the best, in my opinion. However, it is worth noting here that, oddly enough, it was his AMA performance (not usually noted as one of his best) that initially fueled my interest in Adam. I had not watched his season of Idol, but I had certainly heard his name bandied about. Someone on my flist posted a link to the video of the AMA performance. I, of course, had heard about the controversy surrounding the performance and was curious. I watched and was hooked. 1 1/2 years later...here I am. :-)
Really? Wow. That's funny, lol! Glad you took notice of him though! He just exudes sexiness and there's no denying it. He could just stand on stage and I'd still stare at him. It's that undeniable charisma he has pouring off him in waves ;)
My fave FYE is Brad Walsh's remix. It wasn't until I heard that remix that I went "Hey, wait a minute, maybe I should get Adam's album after all..." Because up until then all I'd heard was Time For Miracles and the radio version of FYE which was just...less than thrilling, imo. So I hadn't gotten Adam's album and had kind of drifted away from following news about him because I wrongly assumed he'd gone the way of most Idol contestants and sucked post-season somehow.
Whew, so glad I was incredibly wrong. It was a close call, so I am forever grateful to the Brad Walsh remix for saving me from a big mistake! :)
