[Gaming] Inventing a Mythology

If I look back at my various D&D campaigns, fantasy setting designs, fantasy game designs, and so on, I can start to see the ripples of an idea forming. Today, the small waves of those ripples have synched up and are magnified and it's pretty clear what I have been trying to do: invent a mythology.

Joe Campbell's "Hero of 1000 Faces". In it, he looks at the theory of the 'monomyth' and expouses how all myths are essentially the same.

He and George Lucas were friends, and Star Wars is the archetype of Campbell's work.

Yeah, I have it. It's dreadfully dull. I'm familiar with the Hero's Journey and Campell's ideas, though. They're better read in summary.

But I thought the monomyth was Joyce's take on a similar idea. No?
