MUD blogging

I've been keeping this under my hat a while, till I had enough content up to be worth a read. I've started a blog about MUD -- specifically, TinyMUSH and TinyMUX -- design and building. If you have any interest in MU*dom, give it a peek. I call it Architect of the Tiny, because I needed a suitably overblown title ( Read more... )

Very cool! Interesting timing for me, since I'm just getting back into MUSHing. (Insert "just when I thought I was out" Godfather reference)

Getting to see the coding side of it is fascinating. Thanks!

Thanks! I've been reading your MUSH posts with interest. I wish I had any interest in Amber, because I'd really love to see what Fred and Lydia and crew are doing with progressive MUSH game design.

Ack, having to log into a different system to comment. ;) Glanced through, mean to read more thoroughly later... noticed that you use t() with ifelse() unnecessarily (since ifelse() implies t() on its first argument).

I've been meaning to ask you if you have a more current version of your unformatter than is up on your wiki. I had to fix some things to get it to work, and it seems like the code sometimes deliberately doesn't match the docs (no allowable text on the line after #ascii, for instance).

Hihi!

I couldn't remember if ifelse() force the boolean conversion or not, so I wrapped it with a t() just in case. Doesn't really hurt. Good to know, though.

I haven't updated the unformatter in ages, no. I had no idea that many people were using it, really, so I haven't really maintained it. I think I GPLed it (and will, if I didn't) so if you'd like to contribute changes back, I can update the code on the wiki.

Sure. But I suspect the version on the wiki isn't your actual latest, or whaever it is you're using yourself -- my recollection is that I had to change it to get it to work at all. :)
