Local Gamers?

I'd like to do some gaming. During my holiday vacation, Steph asked me what I'd like to accomplish this year, and gaming more made the top of my list. I haven't gamed nearly enough. As a result, I am gaming-grumpy. Help me ungrump by participating in some of my games. Online gaming was sorta fun but it takes too long and I prefer tabletop anyway ( Read more... )

Dogs in the Vineyard sounds like a lot of fun. I haven't played any tabletop games before. But I've always wanted to try. It would be hard for me to get to your house though, unless there's a train that goes up near there or something. Will you let me know if you end up doing anything in DC/Northern Virginia?

If someone hosts a game in the DC/NoVa area, I'll let you know. There is a train route to Owings Mills (Amtrak to Baltimore, walk a block or two, then subway to Owings Mills) and I'm happy to pick you up at the Owings Mills subway station -- it's just a few minutes from my house.

I had no idea. Which station in Baltimore? It would be a pricey outing - $15ish each way for Amtrak alone - but maybe one of these days.

If I can get a couple weeks notice, I can get a sitter and I'll drive, Jo. Sounds like fun. I'm happy to try any of the games.

Clinton created a Meetup group for the area, at www.meetup.com . We met some gamers in the area through that. One of my buddies created a community at Meetup for experimental music, and within a few months had 22 people in the DC area involved.

Meetup might help. If there's a "D&D-Centric" group in the area, then create another one, saying "We like D&D, but we want to focus on other games, too".

Thanks for the reminder about the Meetup groups. They're charging money for them now, though, so I'll have to think carefully about how to use it.

I'm thinking one game of Dogs to get everyone on the same page about the kind of gaming I'm trying to do, and if that works well, run 4-5 games of Verge with the same group over the next 3 months.

I'm interested in all three types of games, particularly Prime Time Adventures. That sounds like a lot of fun, though that's the my inner actor coming out in me :)
