Thu Aug 20 went to a burlesque show with Bree
Sat Aug 23 - Mon Aug 25 got a Zipcar, drove up to Troy to get the rest of my stuff from the old apartment, go to Stephanie's Travers Day party, see the Brooklyn Cyclones vs Troy Valley Cats baseball game with Stephanie and see Amanda while she was in Troy between CA physics things. As a bonus, I got to hang out with Adala and her friend Sarah

I brought my bike and camping gear back from Troy
Sun Aug 31 got a Zipcar again to go to IKEA. I got a dining room table I already mentioned, a chair, end-table, and two bookcases and two modular office cabinets I turned into an uber-hutch. Check out all the pictures here (you can see the futon I got way back when, now with the cover on):
Mon Sep 1 (Labor Day-bor) The plan was to go to Gillian (from work)'s brunch in Park Slope, but I ended up getting to crash a cookout in Prospect Park with Emily too!

Tue Sep 2 I met up with Bree in Union Square for ice cream that turned out not to be half-off (grr) and then hours of fun drinking at a bar where you can get a manicure ;)
Wed Sep 3 I was out sick from work, but had to make myself go to my first day of grad school ugh, it was as boring as I expected, everyone there was a go-getter continuing-education business type and I was the only one in the room in a tshirt and shorts :P
Had more class on the weekend. barf
Mon Sep 8 I went to my first ever meetup to see Bottle Shock which was ok. Everyone there was nice, but not real hanging out material
Wed Sep 10 we went downtown to pick our offices in our swanky new office (follow the link, I'm in the second picture on my boss's blog! and that's Gillian with the red hair who throws such great food-ful events in her backyard. plus that's my office with the red wall)
Fri Sep 12 - Sun Sep 14 I was going to go camping with Neil and his friends as a replacement for the huge trip (200 college students on one island in Lake George, that album has pictures from like 8 years but the trip has been going on for decades) he has to miss this year, but I spent the weekend reading for school and getting horribly depressed instead. Yeehaw.
Thu Sep 18 Dad and his girlfriend, Tijana (from Serbia) came to visit for a long weekend. We got dinner at the Trout Shack on Smith St in Brooklyn. I had to prepare a presentation for class so that's all we did that evening.
Fri Sep 19 Dad and Tijana joined us for lunch at work. They did museums all day and had dinner with Tijana's son. I went to an AWESOME Gaelic Storm concert with Deirdre. Patrick was hilarious as usual and had new stories to tell us since the last time I saw them (April 2005 with Amanda Goldberg), including one about a country music star which served as a segue into a contry version of Johnny Tarr. They then did like 6 other versions including a perfect impression of Neil Diamond. He also had a story about getting into a fight with Russel Crowe. They then did a whole song about it! There are pictures and video of both here:

Sat Aug 20 I had class all day so all I got to do was dinner with Dad and Tijana at Downtown Atlantic in Brooklyn, which was quite good, but I didn't have room to try one of their famous giant cupcakes.
Sun Aug 21 we got up late and went to brunch at The Boathouse in Central Park. We had a 2 hour wait but we had fun talking and goofing around so it wasn't bad. The food was great and the breeze and view of the lake were lovely.
Wed Sep 24 first monthly Waffle Wednesday at work. Gillian the wonder-chef made them for us. She's awesome.
So tasty. You're so envious of my office :)
